Letters regarding the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad [manuscript] 1868-1869.

The letters discuss county subscriptions, the development of cannel coal property, bend sales in England, disagreements with Williams Carter Wickham, and a struggle for control of the company. A speech by B.H. Magruder nominating Fontaine for the company presidency is included. The collection also contains a 1906 postcard addressed to Sarpeta A. Moran, and several envelopes and calling cards, and five railroad passes. Correspondents include Benjamin Johnson Barbour, Benjamin H. Magruder, Thomas Johnson Michie, and Hugh W. Sheffy.
